Hunter S. Allen ,Jr.

Hunter S. Allen, Jr. is the senior member of the firm and has specialized in the defense of medical malpractice actions for physicians and hospitals for essentially his entire 37-year legal career. He has represented The Emory Clinic, the 800-plus member physician practice group of The Emory University School of Medicine, since 1977, and has earned an AV Martindale Hubbell rating in recognition of his long-standing legal experience and high level of expertise. Mr. Allen was one of the first lawyers in Georgia to specialize in health care defense, and has successfully tried literally hundreds of medical malpractice actions throughout the state of Georgia. Over the years he has earned a reputation among healthcare clients, lawyers and judges as an exceptional trial lawyer, talented and tenacious in his cross-examination and litigation skills. Mr. Allen has been appellate counsel in numerous ground-breaking cases for healthcare providers on issues such as: Informed Consent; the "Right to Die"; "Good Samaritan" laws; Medical Peer Review; Voluntary and Involuntary Commitment; and Reporting Child Abuse. He has authored many articles (see, e.g., Allen, et al., The "Right to Die" in Georgia, 20 Georgia State Bar Journal No. 2, p. 68, November 1983), lectured at numerous legal and medical seminars, served on the Emory Hospitals' Visiting Committee and other boards and committees, and done civic and charitable work in the Atlanta community.
